Every year people visit the dentist because they have a mouth injury or significant teeth grinding. At Glauser Family Dentistry, we know that your smile is important to you. Night guards and sports guards both have the same function: mouth and teeth protection. We are dedicated to getting you great dental health with an added layer of protection!
Do I Need a Mouth Guard?
Mouth guards are a great way to heighten your mouth’s protection for children and adults alike. You may need a night guard or a sports guard if you participate in the following:
- Contact sports (i.e. football, boxing, soccer, hockey)
- Non-contact sports (i.e. gymnastics, mountain biking)
- Overnight teeth grinding (requires a night guard)
Types of Mouth Guards
There are 3 forms of mouth guards in order to get you the best level of protection during sports activity or when you’re sleeping. These are:
Stock Protectors
- Pre-made mouthguards
- Bulky in material
- One size fits all
Boil and Bite Protectors
- Composed of thermoplastic material
- The mouth guard is dipped in hot water and shaped to your teeth by applying pressure
Custom Protectors
- Composed of a flexible material
- Requires an impression of your teeth
- Maximum comfort
Mouth guards can be created for both the upper as well as the lower teeth. Your comfort and dental care are our top priority.
